The Indiana Court of Appeals has affirmed the conviction and sentencing of Lauren Cupp, a Zionsville woman found guilty of multiple felonies following a dangerous confrontation with officers from the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department, Zionsville Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
Cupp was convicted in the Boone County Circuit Court of: Two counts of resisting law enforcement, Two counts of felony neglect of a dependent, and A sentence enhancement for using a firearm during the commission of a crime.
In its August 8, 2025, opinion, the Indiana Court of Appeals found: The evidence was sufficient to support the conviction for resisting Officer Thomas. Cupp’s double jeopardy claim failed because her actions constituted distinct acts of resistance. Officer Thomas qualified as a “police officer” under the sentence enhancement.
Cupp was sentenced to 11 years in prison, including six years for the underlying offenses and five years added via the firearm enhancement.
